These are essential in any combat themed roleplay, and they definitely play an important role here, As fights as bound to happen during jobs and even during regular post and training, techniques are bound to be used. They contribute to the unique fighting style of each character and can range from horrendously simplistic, to intricately complex and ostentatious in their effects.[break][break]
Attacks come in three different classifications Offensive, Defensive, and Supplementary. Of those different classifications, there are also sub-classifications for each individual one. We will explain each so that you may understand better.[break][break]
Offensive: These techniques are used to directly or indirectly damage an enemy or an object, whether Melee or Ranged. They can be unarmed, use weapons, both melee and ranged, and can also involve Devil Fruit abilities designed to damage.[break][break]
Defensive: This category includes techniques that protect you or others, whether directly or indirectly, from others' attacks. They can be used to prevent attacks from landing, either by raising your own evasive capabilities or hindering your opponent's accuracy or to soften the blow of attacks that do land. Or even use Devil Fruit abilities to create armors.[break][break]
Supplementary: These are techniques that are neither offensive nor defensive inherently and can do both depending on how you use it. They can affect the offensive or defensive potential of other techniques, they have many uses and can either cause damage or stop attacks or neither. Transformations and Devil Fruit Modes/Gears are included in this category.[break][break]
These classifications all come in different ranges as well. There is Melee range which is basically as far as your character can reach or for those holding a standard sized weapon how far away their weapon can reach. Mid Range is anywhere from extending to about as far as a long weapon such as a staff to a bit further out. Long Range is anything further than that unless you have modified it a pistol can only reach mid-range though a rifle can hit long-range. Also, there is one more range which is self which is basically stating that it covers a person's body like a shield of some sort.[break][break]
The starting limits for the techs are as follows:[break][break]
Rookie Techniques or RT's are at their very weakest moves that are a step above free form attacks. Though at their most powerful they are more advanced versions of basic attacks though they are not strong enough to be considered superhuman feats or anything complex.
The base level of an Intermediate Technique or an IT would be a more that is not unrealistic but can be considered much more advanced than a free form attack due to having added effects such as much an enemy back. Though the higher versions of these attacks are relatively unnatural such as melee attacks being used from range and stronger levels of defense that seem almost superhuman and definitely unnatural.
Advanced Techniques or AT's are techniques that seemingly defy nature and logic. Such as powerful slashes that cut from a distance and illusions that grip an opponent's mind. Those who have access to this level technique are just starting to see how terrifying the world can be and those who do not have access to these attacks that see them assume that the person is of the most advanced level.
Veteran Techniques or VT's are techniques that have transcended even what was once believed to be superhuman. They are highly dangerous and could kill if not properly controlled. The difference between VT's and AT's are not that different and those who have a lesser understanding of martial skill most likely would not be able to tell the difference.
Legendary Techniques or LT's are thought to be myths. These techniques are so strong that seeing them is enough to put even those who have mastered VT's in awe. They can be used to take control of almost any situation though using them can be very taxing.
