One Piece: Treasure Cruise is an Alternate Universe (AU) site where the straw hats and all the other famous pirates of the animanga do not exist.
The Time frame for the site is around the same time frame of the Animanga so the technology and such are on par with what is seen in the show though some advances can be made within reason of course.
There should be no mention of cannon characters as none of them exist and although there may be certain things that are similar to the animanga as this site is based off of it, the animanga is not considered cannon on this site.
Plot
Seventy years ago the three way war going on within the sky was still happening with high casualties on all sides. Because of this a truce was initiated. Each island would have its own independence away from rule of the other islands. The truce would hold so long as they stayed on their respective island and did not venture off into the territory of the other islands. Although there have been news about multiple Birkans, Shandians, or Skypieans dying while on one of the other islands the open, all-out fighting has stopped and a lot of the killing has been toned down. However, this has not stopped many sky islanders from leaving their home in search of a peaceful life down in the Blue Oceans not knowing that they were going from one multiple century long war to another.
Around sixty years ago the revolutionaries had a secret base within East Blue on Colors Island. The secret base there was becoming so successful due to the fact that none would suspect any trouble out of the weakest ocean in the world, so much so that they would be surprised to run into high ranking officials of the revolution there. This went on for about ten years until the World Government finally got wind of the location of the hideout. The fight was brought to the base and the leader of the revolution at the time stayed behind to fight off the attack giving his people time to escape. Due to the public execution of the leader of the revolution having hurt the recruiting process for a few years it was then that the revolution decided to work through a system of council so that there would never again be just one leader of the revolution but five one for each blue and one for the Grand Line as a whole. Forty years ago people began to move back to colors island and multiple towns and villages have sprang up there each named after a specific color.
In the present time the fighting has become less open warfare and more vying for islands and power. However fighting between the revolution and the World Government still persist because of this the World Government has increased taxes. This has caused unrest in many of the civilians and has bolstered the ranks of the revolution. However in a move that no one saw coming there have been several individuals who feel as if the revolution is just as bad as the World Government and have gone to sea on their own to live by their own code and to enjoy their freedom. These pirates have sparked the Golden Pirate Era which has also sparked an increase in bounty hunters which is a fine way to earn a living and pay those raised taxes without joining the marines revolutionaries or the pirates.

Rain fell across the island of Toroa, turning the soils of the fields to mud and soaking the roads leading in and out of the villages scattered across the land. A howling wind blew through the land, causing unclosed shutters to flap and slam against the walls in the wind. Light would flash across the sky, followed by a roaring thunder. Doors and windows were kept firmly shut on this night. Not a single soul was to be found out on the streets at this time. No, everyone was huddled away inside, save one.
In the streets a dark figure clad in blue walked through the rain at a brisk pace, undaunted by the weather. She was short, but one would be forgiven for thinking otherwise as she strode down the street like a predator. Brown eyes remained fixated upon a tavern. In the rain the cuts that marred her cheeks and her arms almost went unnoticed. But the razor-sharp teeth grinding together were clear as day. As soon as she approached the door to the tavern, she wasted no time in kicking it open with nothing but her own brute strength.
Breaking the admittedly fragile lock on the tavern door, she ended up slamming the door against the wall and gaining the attention of every person within. She skipped over most of their faces, choosing instead to home in on the face of one man sitting in the corner of the tavern with a group of buddies on all sides of him and a cigar between his lips. She glared in his direction. Without wasting even a second, she immediately walked straight towards him.
"Marius."
Her voice was restrained. Her hands clenched into tight fists that began to turn slightly paler around the knuckles. The entire table began to stand up - with the exception of the man she stared in the face, who seemed to sink back into his chair as he fixed his rather unkempt, blond hair.
"K-Karine! I-"
"You led me right to the doorstep of an entire Marine division," she hissed, stopping just in front of his table. Two men stood to either side of 'Marius'; each one brandish brass knuckles. Karine didn't pay them any mind.
"Look, it was an honest mistake!"
"And how many times have I heard that excuse?" she snarled. "I'm beginning to think this deal's a bit too one-sided. How many times have I busted my ass for you?"
"Don't you even dare!" Marius spoke, now sitting up. He pointed a finger shakily in Karine's direction. "If you so much as lay a hand on me-"
"You'll what?"
There was a stiffness in the air of the tavern as all around watched Karine and Marius' table. Marius was shaking, but despite having been out in the rain, Karine didn't seem to budge at all. No one made a move for at least a minute before Karine's eyes narrowed.
"Just try it."
At once all four men rushed her. They were without form. Sloppy. swung out with both fists, backhanding the two closest men simultaneously. Both men dropped to the ground at once. A third stared at his downed comrades. The fourth dared to attack. Karine grabbed the man by the arm as he attacked and swung him overhead before slamming him down on his back. By now the third one had recomposed himself, but he moved too late - Karine quickly turned and slammed the sole of her foot into his stomach, sending him sprawling across the table in front of Marius. The Tiger-Shark Fishwoman then turned to Marius himself.
The blond man didn't even wait before ditching his comrades. As one of the two men on the ground began to recover, Karine grabbed him and used him as an improvised weapon, throwing him over the heads of the other tavern regular. He flailed about in the air before he collided with his boss, knocking the both of them out for the count. As the two men collapsed in a heap, Karine walked over to the counter of the bar and sat herself down on a stool. Looking the bartender in the eye, she flashed a wide grin.
"Sorry about that - personal business. I'll pay for the damages. Now," she spoke, leaning in over the counter. "What's your strongest drink?"
Tsai sat at the bar of a run down old tavern known as the "Drunken Maiden", fitting name in Tsai's opinion as even the women were indulging in what was usually a man's past time. It didn't bother Tsai either way, he rather enjoyed a woman who could hold her own. There wasn't any spectacular reason as to why Tsai had ended up in the west blue, on a Marine trading post Island to be exact. It wasn't unusual for the Vagabond pirate to wonder into awkward situations that usually ended up with him being separated from his crew, however this time would be different. Tsai couldn't remember why or how he had managed to seemingly disappear from the East Blue and wake up days later within a paw print shaped crater, on a random Island.
The Vagabond pirate had been at the bar the entire day, from morning to dusk he had sat at the wooden bar drinking his fill. He had gotten drunk and sobered up multiple times before anything eventful would happen in the tavern. Tsai figured with all the marine dogs hanging about everyone was walking on egg shells. It was sad really, Tsai could see the potential the island had, and knew why the government held fast to the territory. With the island being a hub for imports and exports between certain island and kingdoms within the west blue, it was a great asset in keeping control of the region. Tsai wondered what would happen if the island was taken, the thought made his heart rate increase, he could see so many uses for the island. That being said he was actually thinking about doing the idiotic, challenging the marine presence on the island despite not having Red or Captain Vallen. Tsai figured it could be a present for when the two rescued him again.
As the blonde had finally made up his mind to cause a god damn ruckus, a random woman would steal his moment. Tsai spun around in his seat to catch the action first hand, grabbing a cup of vodka from the counter he would down the drink as if it were a small shot glass. "Oh so the fun actually starts at night around here" Tsai said out loud as the woman and the group of men exchanged words that would eventually lead with the men emasculated and the woman thirsty for a stiff drink. Tsai wouldn't take his eyes off of her, as she walked back to the bar and fortunately sat next to Tsai. He could slightly make out the texture of her skin, the slits on her arms and of course the large gnawing set of razor sharp teeth.
Time seemed to slow down as the realization of what the woman's race was set in, Tsai's excitement and childlike curiosity would flare up the moment she finished asking for her drink. Smiling, he would slid a large cup of an thick and odd looking drink that would make those with weak stomachs cringe just by the look of it. " I always liked a lady with tough skin" Tsai said extending him open palm towards the drink so she would know that he was offering. The green drink was the strongest the tavern had to offer and judging by the looks of it's patrons no one but Tsai was able to drink it and keep going. " Drinking challenge?" Tsai said trying to find a common ground or ice breaker that would allow him to spew as many questions on her as possible. This was his first time ever seeing a Fish Person and he wouldn't allow it to go to waste.

Karine didn't even pay attention to the other people in the bar as she waited on her drink. She was leaning with both elbows on the countertop, eagerly waiting on the bartender to hand her a drink. She raised a hand to the toothpick in her mouth, taking it between her webbed thumb and index finger and picking at her teeth. Taking the toothpick out she inspected it for a moment before flicking it away into a bin behind the counter. Just at that moment, the barman set down a mug in front of her, filled to the brim. Karine grinned from ear to ear. Reaching into her pocket, she pulled out some change and slapped it down into the man's hand.
Grasping the mug in her hand, Karine raised it to her lips, only to stop as a voice called out to her. Casting her gaze sideways, she spotted a young, blond-haired man and set her mug back down without drinking from it. If he was older than her, it didn't seem to be by much. But he looked excitable. And if nothing else, he didn't seem to hesitate in challenging her to a drinking contest. Karine flashed another shark-like grin.
"Toughest skin you'll see around these parts..." she remarked. Karine raised her glass mug. "'Course, I've also got the toughest liver as well, if you're serious about drinking me under the table".
Karine allowed a smirk to remain on her lips as she began to drink from her mug, chugging down the liquor. She emptied half the contents of her mug before setting it back down and wiping some of the froth from her lips. She glanced in the bartender's direction and raised her mug.
"Hey, Barkeep, might wanna get a few more of those glasses coming!"
The free drink Tsai had slid to the new comer was ignored in favor of the drink she would have to pay for from the bar keep. As the glass slid past the fish woman, the entire bar had stood up in awe, time seemed to slow down yet again as the entire bar watched the glass fall to the flour and shatter. The event though seemingly small, had more effect on the bar than the woman's small scuffle with the ruffians. It was one of those rare and slightly barbaric unspoken rule in taverns, that to ignore a free drink was one of the most disrespectful thing a person could do. The entire bar looked back and forth from the broken glass to Tsai and then to the fish woman, mouths wide open. "did she just ignore that guys drink?" one guy said within the group. Another would add, " to refuse a free drink... such disrespect".
Tsai's smile never left his face he looked up at the woman, and wondered why she hadn't take his drink. After all the watered down alcohol she had just taken was just scheme to make more money out of unsuspecting guest. Admittedly, Tsai had feel for the exact same scam earlier that day. However, he wouldn't comment on the actions of the woman, they were both apparently pirates on a island full of marines. He didn't want to start a commotion just yet, Tsai had made his mind up to take over the Island and he wouldn't be leaving or causing an uproar until the island was his. Tsai was smart, he didn't know for sure if the woman was a marine or bounty hunter both of which would be after his 2,000,000 beli reward.
"Oh I didn't know you only liked tap water. That drink you just had was nothing but a dirty scam" Tsai waved his hand as he spoke, dismissing the one's insult, she was a fish person and she probably didn't know most of the human traditions. Tsai didn't care about this, he actually was interested in getting to know her more, however he wouldn't allow himself to be beat by her. Drinking and eating was one of his favorite pass times, she would have her hands full. "Bartender scratch that.... we'll have that green bottle right there. The one I've been telling you to pour for the past hour" Tsai said ordering the man to bring him the bottle, the bar tender gave a glare which was met with a glare from Tsai that made the man instantly freeze. He slowly walked over the to the back of the bar and handed over three bottles of his strongest vodka. "it's on the house" the man said placing two cups on the bar's counter.
The other patrons of the bar were all deadly silent as the two stared each other off at the bar, the atmosphere had gotten tense with a sense of competition. Tsai was the first to pop the bottle and pour a two shots. Sliding on over to the woman, and taking his own in one go. The green liquid was harsh and hot, far stronger than a regular drink. Any normal person would have choked from the first bit, but Tsai held his own, awaiting for the woman to drink hers. "bottoms up?"

Karine didn't really understand why the entire tavern had set its sights on her all of a sudden. Well, she understood it earlier, when she kicked the asses of those shady pricks running a wannabe gang, but it seemed this was just a tad more... intense. Everyone was staring at her with a slack jaw, leaving her to stop drinking for a moment and raise her brow in confusion. The air felt strangely thick. It was then that the blond spoke up.
A scam? Karine frowned and cast a glance in the direction of the barkeep. Setting her glass down firmly on the wooden counter top, she now directed her questioning stare in his direction. He seemed to be sweating, and just this side of irritated. She gave him a hard stare before casting her gaze back in the direction of the young blond guy sitting next to her. Shuffling a bit in her seat so that she was facing him, she kept one arm leaning on the counter top while the other hand rested on her leg.
"Well, if it's a scam, then we can't be having that, can we?" Karine spoke with a grin that was strangely devoid of humor and for some reason seemed directed more at the barkeep than towards the blond man in front of her. "So, how about we get the actual strongest drink in the bar, then. Wouldn't want to have our little contest drinking anything less, now would we?"
As if on cue, the blond man immediately called for the bartender to grab the green bottle and pour them both a shot glass. Karine kept her arms folded in front of her as she waited, grinning from ear to ear still. There was still a tenseness to her form, but she focused herself squarely on the man in front of her. There was something about him she couldn't quite place. But more than that, he seemed remarkably sure of himself. Karine wasn't one to back down from that.
As soon as her drink was poured, of course, Karine didn't waste any time. Grasping the shot glass, she raised it to her mouth and instantly downed it all at once. It was like magma scorching the inside of her throat, but Karine was made of tougher stuff than that. Setting the shot glass back down, she paused for a moment before looking back towards the blond man.
"Not half-bad. Bet gran probably chugged this stuff down by the gallon back home," Karine remarked aloud. "Another shot!"
