Devil Fruits are mystical fruits found in the world that can give the eater many different and varying kinds of strange and interesting abilities, depending on the type and variation of the fruit itself.[break][break]
Devil Fruits are said to be the fruits of the Sea Devil and that the secret to their power is hidden in the Grand Line. Because encounters with them are rare (especially outside the Grand Line), a number of rumors about them have risen, making it difficult to tell whether some things are fact or fiction. The average person knows nothing or very little about what they are or what they do; this especially applies to people in isolated countries, even within the Grand Line which causes them to believe devil fruit powers to be curses or sorcery. Because of their power, if sold they can expect to fetch well over 100,000,000B, and Devil Fruit users themselves are sold at market prices as slaves. Of course, individual fruits each have their differences in price, dependent on the powers bestowed.[break][break]
One running theme with Devil Fruits, however, is the fact that they taste unimaginably bad, to the point of making it seem like the user had taken poison. The Devil Fruit, when consumed, gives the consumer power or special trait, which they will immediately become aware of; a person who has eaten a Devil Fruit and gained its powers is known as a Devil Fruit User. The fruits come in all different shapes and colors, and all Devil Fruits presumably have swirl marks or patterns on them of some kind. There can be only one of each type of fruit at a time. Only one bite is needed for the user to ain the power of the Devil Fruit, after which the Devil Fruit becomes a simple, useless, disgusting fruit. Despite this, all users tend to eat the entire fruit, as they are apparently unaware of this fact. After ingesting the fruit, the powers to affect the eater's lineage factor.[break][break]
Devil Fruits are the origins of the powers of some of the strongest people in the current generation of the world. They are common in the Grand Line compared to the other four blues. A typical Grand Line Pirate crew will often center around a captain with a Devil fruit ability, while stronger crews and organizations will often contain many Devil Fruit users.[break][break]
Like many series, One Piece follows the trope that a Devil Fruit power also generally affects the clothes that the user is wearing. Paramecia fruit users alter their clothes along with themselves automatically. Zoan fruit users' clothes will fit in the same proportions after their transformation, and Logia fruit users transform their clothes (and subsequent accessories) to their element along with themselves.[break][break]
There is no way to tell how Devil Fruit powers will fare when pitted against one other. A Devil Fruit user who normally dominates all other powers can sometimes be brought down by a power considered "weak" in comparison. Some Devil Fruits of similar powers have been confirmed to be superior over another, though this in no way means that the superior ability user is stronger than that of the inferior's. Devil Fruit powers are so varied and mysterious, that the powers gained from eating one can serve purposes that may transcend normal limits.[break][break]
Devil Fruit powers can, on rare occasions, be "awakened", increasing the abilities of the user. The details of how a Devil Fruit can be awakened are so far unknown, but the increased abilities have been seen to allow significantly more power, as well as new abilities. The effects of the awakening depend on the class of the Devil Fruit.[break][break]
For Zoan-class powers, awakening grants the users much larger transformations than other Zoan, while also gaining even more physical strength and durability, the latter contributing to a higher recovery rate. For Paramecia-class powers, awakening can allow the power to affect even the surroundings, as opposed to the user's own body. While with Logia the user gains the ability to manipulate their element even if they themselves did not create it as easily as if they did.[break][break]
The same power of a Devil Fruit can exist more than once, though no two Devil Fruits of the same kind may exist at the same time. Several Devil Fruits have seen their consumers die and their powers have been reborn in other Devil Fruits. There exists a Devil Fruit Encyclopedia that lists the names and abilities of all the Devil Fruits. However, only a few of them have illustrations, meaning that most Devil Fruits cannot be identified by their shape.[break][break]
When a Devil Fruit user dies, their ability is reborn into another fruit. Instead of growing from a plant, the ability simply regenerates inside another existing fruit. Another characteristic of a Devil Fruit's growth is that the stem becomes noticeably curlier than it was when the fruit was not endowed with the ability.[break][break]
One rumor is that Devil Fruits house actual devils that will fight when placed in proximity of one another. The resulting battle would destroy the users' bodies. However, Grand Line scientists have noted that the phenomenon of one's body destroying itself only occurs when one consumes two Devil Fruits. The main attraction of eating a Devil Fruit is the power bestowed upon the user, with many spending their entire lives seeking out just one specific fruit. More often than not, the benefits and uses bestowed by the fruit far outweigh the loss of the ability to swim. However, due to lack of information known by most, and with Devil Fruits that are still unknown, the average consumer plays Russian Roulette when consuming one, without knowing what fruit it may be. With no way of removing the curse, all Devil Fruits users are labeled as "freaks", "Devils", and "monsters" for the remainder of their lives. All Devil Fruit users have to be trained to a certain degree, from simple activation control to full combat techniques.[break][break]
Another problem with the Devil Fruits is that a few of them offer "weird" or "useless" powers. While many citizens can be fascinated by their powers, others may leave a consumer leading a miserable life full of discrimination from those around them. However, due to the lack of information within some societies and cultures, misconceptions about how this power was achieved can lead to the manipulation of individuals for that user's own purposes. Inanimate objects have been shown to be able to "eat", or otherwise consume Devil Fruits. It is not limited to solid materials, as gaseous slime can also be used as a medium.[break][break]
Zoan is one of the three Devil Fruit types. This type of fruit allows the user to transform into another species and inter-species hybrid forms at will. Zoan types are especially effective in close combat.[break][break]
Through training, it is possible for Zoan users to unlock different transformations. Another effect shown is that in many different known Zoan users, when in a half-human half-animal hybrid, sometimes the user tends to get bigger than they originally are, even to giant proportions.[break][break]
Objects that have ingested a Zoan fruit gain the mobility and intelligence of the animal they turn into. This can be a drawback as the object can also feel pain as well as become susceptible to diseases. In animal form, they can be intimidated. Inanimate object Zoans also seem to be very loyal to whoever owns them.[break][break]
The Zoan fruits primarily improve physical abilities and allow the user to use his or her's various forms to adapt to a situation during a fight to find the form that gives the biggest advantage.[break][break]
Zoan powers are usually utilized for their hybrid form, as this form enhances the physical statistics of the user by combining positive attributes from both the user and the physical-level equivalent of the Zoan species. Zoan fruits are thus favored among already strong users who prefer to enhance their physical abilities for the use of martial arts. This can help create new fighting styles. Another rather minor advantage is that depending on the scenario, a Zoan user can go undetected by simply changing the physical form they have to one unfamiliar to those around them. It also offers the element of surprise when the foe has little experience with fighting that particular form.[break][break]
In their hybrid form, Zoan users experience enhanced senses, as this form uses a combination of both the user's and the fruit's abilities. Skilled Zoan users are also capable of using their powers to shape-shift out of harm's way; this is particularly useful, especially when the Zoan's body has been restrained. In addition to an increase in physical strength and enhanced senses, some Zoan users may have a special ability affiliated with the animal their fruit is based off.[break][break]
This fruit type is also useful for applying to objects such as guns or swords, giving an otherwise inanimate object life, and increasing its value to the owner of the item. Zoans could be considered amongst the seemingly least impressive type of Devil Fruits, as they primarily rely on brute force and some of them are physically very weak animals. However, rare Zoans such as those labeled "Mythical" can be considered as impressive and as powerful as Logias and may even display some attributes of the Paramecia and/or Logia classes to generate rare and incredible powers combined in one person. Another type of rare Zoans is one labeled "Ancient,". Ancient Zoans are supposedly stronger than regular Zoan users though not as strong as mythical zoans.[break][break]
Like all Devil Fruit abilities, Zoan types can also be "awakened", attaining the ability to be stronger, faster, and tougher than normal. This also includes faster recovery time, which functions involuntarily even when the user is unconscious. However, an Awakened Zoan fruit user has no sign of complex thought, seemingly acting out on instinct and power. They are always in a form similar to their animal form, and yet they are somehow able to stand erect and hold weapons.[break][break]
Physical powers granted are restricted to just the capabilities of the proportionate physical equivalent of the animal they are able to transform into. In hybrid form, these strengths of both species may be combined, but again seems to be just a mixture of both forms. While it is true that they enhance the strengths of the consumer, they rely primarily on the consumers fighting skills and capabilities.[break][break]
Zoan fruits abilities may end up nothing more than a physical change of appearance to that particular consumer. However, this does not mean the fruit itself was worthless as all Devil Fruits are subject to fate on who consumes them. When a Zoan Devil Fruit is first consumed the most difficult task may prove simply learning how to fit the change of physical appearance to the fighting styles already known to the user.[break][break]
Like the Paramecia, Zoans may leave their users as "freaks" in their hybrid form due to the way that the combination of both physical forms is mashed together. Furthermore, inanimate objects animated to life through the use of Zoan fruits become living creatures that need to be fed and groomed. Also, these once-inanimate objects gain their own free will and basic life's weaknesses. If an animal ate a Zoan-class Devil Fruit that is exactly the same as their original species (such as human eating the Hito Hito no Mi), it would result in a complete waste, as they gain no transformation whatsoever, yet all the typical weaknesses of Devil Fruit users.[break][break]
Paramecia is one of the three Devil Fruit types. These fruits give the users a power that can affect their body, manipulate the environment, or produce substances. In general, Paramecia Devil Fruits are fruits that give their users powers other than transforming into natural elements, like Logias, or transforming into animals, like Zoans. Although they do not include powers that allow elemental or animal transformations, some of them are capable of other forms of transformations, as well as creating substances. This is the most commonly seen class of Devil Fruits.[break][break]
The Paramecia fruits grant users an ability that can be classified only as "Superhuman". The Paramecia fruits also contain the greatest variety of powers evident so far in the world. The largest advantage of this group is that even physically weak fighters can make use of this fruit class. The primary focus on the fighting styles of users does not have to rely on the physical strengths or fighting skills of the individual themselves and is usually more focused on the users' creativity and initiative. The Paramecia group, therefore, can even make fighters out of weak individuals.[break][break]
Although the abilities can be exploited and manipulated in a variety of ways, the extent of useful attacks or strategies depends greatly on the users themselves. Some consumers may encounter inspiration for a new attack after using a particular set of attacks for years, while others may never learn how to completely harness their skills.[break][break]
Like all Devil Fruit abilities, Paramecia types can also be "awakened", attaining the ability to use their Devil Fruits in different manners than they originally could but not in a way that is unlike Paramecia's. For example, a user whose paramecia ability affects the make-up of there body (like turning their body rubber-like) could gain the ability to produce rubber much like other paramecia users can. While awakening only offers one additional use of the powers it can be very useful.[break][break]
The Paramecia type is the only group containing powers or special traits that may be considered "useless" to the user, granting little or no real advantage whatsoever depending on the situation. In short, the aspect of the devil fruit being "useless" may sometimes be due to the user not being accustomed to it efficiently deploying the abilities they receive. Their abilities may also end up proving completely useless in some situations where they would normally otherwise have been quite formidable. Therefore, even the best of fighters may be strained to be able to use their abilities to the fullest.[break][break]
Paramecia users are also considered the easiest to battle since they can be predictable and often display their full abilities within a very short period of time. The results and capabilities of these fruits are therefore limited to the creativity of the user in any given scenario to overcome the limits and predictability of the fruits. However, this is only considered to be a general perspective as many users have shown many innovative methods utilizing their powers, and some other fruits have highly versatile powers compared to others[break][break]
Some abilities of this type of fruit also add further implications, like the power of the fruit being passively released from their hands which means they must wear gloves in order to not accidentally use their abilities. Although other Devil Fruit types may also lead to the user being considered a "freak", none are more noted for this than the Paramecia group. This is due to some of the abilities granted by Paramecia fruits being considered far too strange or frightening for normal people to accept.[break][break]
Certain abilities with lingering effects — such as the Fuwa Fuwa no Mi, Hobi Hobi no Mi, and Nagi Nagi no Mi — would have all their effects deactivated upon their respective users fainting or dying; this becomes a weakness that the opponents would sometimes take advantage of. Others — such as the Kage Kage no Mi and Mero Mero no Mi — will remain active even if the user is killed, and must be reversed by the user's own free will.[break][break]
Paramecia are the most common type of Devil Fruit. They come in a variety of forms which can be divided further into several subcategories. With such a broad range of available powers, it is difficult to generalize the abilities offered by Paramecia fruits. However, it appears that the effects of this Devil Fruit type can be categorized into two basic groups: those which are based on a characteristic (such as elasticity or slowness) or an object (bombs, doors, etc.). Paramecia types are also distinguishable in the manner in which their powers manifest. They can either alter the user's current physical state, directly affect their immediate environment and/or living things within proximity or affect both of these conditions.[break][break]
How to trigger the fruit’s power can also differ from user to user. For instance, the Gomu Gomu no Mi, Yomi Yomi no Mi, and Sube Sube no Mi have powers that are passively active at all times, while others such as the Noro Noro no Mi and Hana Hana no Mi require self-activation.[break][break]
There are also many types of Paramecia that could be easily mistaken as Logia, either due to the user's ability to release near-limitless amounts of a particular substance (or energy) in relation to the power their fruit gives, or that they are able to mimic the properties of certain existing matter. These types of Paramecia are not to be confused as Logia, though, since the users of the former category cannot convert themselves into their respective substance, nor do those particular substances count as actual elements, and neither can those from the latter sort generate the same aspect from their bodies that they are capable of transforming into.[break][break]
Basically, while an elemental Paramecia can allow the user to generate, control, and be immune to their element, they can not actually become that element or regenerate, like a Logia user. Although one exception had been seen so far, the Buki Buki no Mi can regenerate herself fully if destroyed, but only when transformed into a weapon. Also, some have been known to coat themselves in their substance to trick others into believing they are Logia type.[break][break]
Logia is one of the three Devil Fruit types. It is characterized by giving its user the ability to turn into a natural element or force of nature. Logia Devil Fruits are considered the most powerful as well as the rarest of the three Devil Fruit types overall (not including the Zoan subclass, Mythical Zoan).[break][break]
Logia Devil Fruits allow a person to create, control, and transform their bodies into a natural element or force of nature, depending on the fruit. The user can transform partly, or completely. One of the greatest strengths of Logia fruits is the defensive capabilities that they have to offer. A Logia user can be shattered, split, or otherwise separated into multiple parts, sometimes down to the size of dust, and reform their bodies without injury given that their bodies are in their elemental state. Physical attacks will simply pass through or be absorbed into the user's elemental body, allowing them a large degree of intangibility. The only known exception to this aspect would be with the Yami Yami no Mi, whose power absorbs strikes and make them stronger, making the user suffer in greater pain than if they would have taken the hit physically. Another trait was displayed with this ability to recover from physical damage if the user is cut in half parts of a Logia's separate body can even act in a fragmented state.[break][break]
In addition to their ability to become their element, Logia users can generate limitless amounts of their element and control it, giving them fearsome attack abilities. However, certain elements, such as smoke and swamp, are more suitable for capturing enemies rather than causing raw destruction.[break][break]
Logia users can also use their element in other ways related to their element. Logia fruits can afford the users immunity to effects related to their elements as well. Certain Logia users can also control their respective elements that are not generated from their own bodies but are already preexisting within the environment. They can accomplish so by utilizing their own element from their own body and adding it to the preexisting source, augmenting their already powerful force to higher and more versatile levels. Though this could be done without the need to adding their own element to a preexisting source if their fruit is awakened. However, none of the Logia users shown so far can manipulate their respective elements if it is in another state of matter or energy unless their fruit is awakened.[break][break]
Finally, Logia users' physical strengths do not influence the power of the fruit. Regardless of the original strength of the user, their gained powers are of the same scale. This is different from Zoan fruits, which act as physical strength multipliers, and Paramecia fruits, which can be used in conjunction with the user's physical abilities. However, the properties of the Devil Fruit's element can provide certain instances where the user can exploit it in conjunction with their own fighting moves.[break][break]
Despite the fearsome power of Logia users, they are far from being truly invincible. Since all users are required to transform into their respective elements voluntarily, sneak attacks are more likely to work, as the user will not have enough time to shift into their elemental state and avoid the attacks. However, with training, most Logia users learn to transform by reflex, eliminating their weakness of being attacked through conventional means.[break][break]
Inexperienced Logia users also tend to become seemingly overconfident, as they are unaccustomed to physically dodging or receiving attacks, due to the nature of their powers. Thus, if this advantage is neutralized by some means, they then have to start to rely on their own physical ability to dodge, a skill which they may or may not be proficient at. Also, reforming their bodies after receiving an opponent's attack requires concentration. Fear can even hinder the regeneration process.[break][break]
Another way to harm a Logia user is to exploit the element itself, using its properties to solidify the user's body and rendering them vulnerable to damage. n addition to solidifying the user's body, it is possible to use elemental weaknesses to a further extreme, completely neutralizing the element that makes up the user's body. Even though a Logia user can generate near-limitless amounts of their element, they cannot recover from blows that damage their true physical body, no matter what state it's in. In addition to this, Logia users cannot regenerate their limbs from their true body if they are severed.
Users of Busoshoku Haki can strike Logia users as if they were human. When Haki is used in an attack on a Logia user while they are intangible, rather than nullifying the powers completely, it allows the Haki user to deal damage to them as if their bodies were normal. It also allows the one using Haki to grab the person in their transformed state as if they were tangible. Logia users should not transform into their element against people more proficient in the use of Haki than them since the increased body volume also increases the area where the Logia user can be attacked.[break][break]
This is not infallible, however, Logia users have been hit by Haki-enhanced attacks that should have injured them, but have reformed back to normal. This proves that if the use of Haki is not advanced enough that the use of Logia abilities will trump it. There is also the solution of simply dodging Haki-imbued attacks; physical contact is still required to harm a Logia user, which means that as long as the Logia user performs long-range, indirect attacks, they can remain perfectly invulnerable. Finally, Logia users suffer the same weakness to the sea and Seastone as with other Devil Fruit users, forcing them back into their original form and sealing their powers.[break][break]
With this new power comes a weakness: the sea rejects the new Devil Fruit user and they become helpless while submerged in water. Though the terminology is usually referring to the inability to swim a more accurate definition is that the seawater itself is the weakness as opposed to the actual motion of the body to move in the sea which simply becomes impossible once one has consumed a Devil Fruit. Not touching the water itself however will allow the user to go unaffected even if submerged. Devil Fruit users are susceptible to all types of water, not just seawater. This includes the white sea surrounding Skypiea. Moving water, like rain or waves, does not weaken Devil Fruit users while standing water does. Furthermore, a Devil Fruit user will not be restricted in the water if he or she is not physically touching the water.[break][break]
It is not until a Devil Fruit user is knee-deep in water that they become immobilized. Also being in contact with the sea does not instantly rob their strength unless it reaches a certain level. Even if a part of the user is submerged, they cannot use their Devil Fruit powers, no matter how much or how little is submerged. However, if the user's body has been permanently altered by the fruit, then the user's ability can be manipulated by outside sources. Being weak against the sea proves deadly to many Devil Fruit users who are pirates and Marines sailing the Grand Line. Additionally, the use of a Devil Fruit puts users at odds with races like the fishmen, and some with a greater weakness to the sea than normal are almost useless against these races. However, the Devil Fruit power will also render a Fishman or Merman just as weak in water as it would anyone else, so this advantage is only applied to one that has not consumed a Devil Fruit themselves.[break][break]
Seastone, a special substance that emits the same energies of the sea, can also cancel out Devil Fruit powers through physical contact with the user. How weakened the user's movements become depends on how much physical contact the user has with the Seastone. In addition, all other Devil Fruit users will have their powers nullified when they are grabbed by the user of the Yami Yami no Mi.[break][break]
Here on Treasure Cruise, we thought we might try something new. We have decided to allow members to steal Devil Fruit powers from one another. Due to the devil fruit abilities being reintroduced into the world through the users' death. If someone with a devil fruit dies anyone within the thread can stumble upon look for or state that they have the closest fruit which will then become said devil fruit. Upon consumption of even a little bit of said fruit the devil fruit powers are then transmitted to the new user.[break][break]
If there are several other users in the thread that wish to claim the fruit there will be a fight for the fruit with the winner of the fight being able to consume the fruit and win the powers. Also, you do not have to consume the fruit right away giving you the ability to sell the fruit or give it to someone else as a present or use it as a bargaining chip for something else. Even if you already have a fruit power yourself you may steal another fruit though eating a devil fruit while you already have a devil fruit will ALWAYS lead to death. However you may implant the fruit inside an item (though if the item breaks in a thread its the same as a character dying).

Paramecia
Logia
Weakness
Stealing
