Overall
He has a apathetic and nonchalant personality, he does not waste his words and is often blunt and sometimes short with people, but what he says is mostly true. He is typically uninterested about what goes on in the world or how certain situations will play out, regardless of what they are. His natural "It'll all work out" attitude allows him to easily remain composed and focus, noticing everything around him.
Just as definitive of Tsai's personality as his aloof nature is his actual intelligence. Attributed to his merchant heritage, Tsai's is a archaeologist, researcher, philosopher and scholar by nature, as such he is a person greedy for knowledge and doesn't mind hurting himself if it's for the sake of learning something new. Because of this he seeks the comfort and freedom to study the mysteries of the world.
Despite his knowledgeable side, Tsai's hedonistic outlook on life makes him easily be amazed by the simplest things which ultimately makes his personality like that of a child's, in that sense he tends to go to the extremes. He can either be extremely greedy, especially in cases of beli, who his crew is, and adventure; or extraordinarily selfless, going so far as to virtually sacrifice himself to avenge or protect his friends, crew, and family.
■ History
Overall
Because of this, Tsai would spend years travelling with his family, learning the merchant ways, even gaining the skill to spot rare and expensive items out of a pile of junk. Lulu was praised by his family as he could use this skill to outwit most sellers who wouldn't be able to tell the rarity of an item. As Tsai got older, the threat of other merchants dipping into his families resources grew, while they were astounding ar their profession none of them had any real fighting experience.
This drove Lulu to go to the island known as the Karate Island. One of the many islands his family sold goods to. Taking advantage of the families next scheduled trade, he would also board the boat to Karate Island to train and help keep his family safe. After a few years of training Tsai had borded a merchant boat to return to Baterilla Island, the place of his birth and his families base of operation. However, upon his return Tsai would find out that his family had been murdered and their entire fortune stolen by pirates hired by a rival group of merchants bent on taking the CheungTs family trading routes. The merchants had succeeded in eliminating Lulu's family as a threat, going as far as completely erasing everything of the family's existence.
Tsai wasn't a stupid boy, he knew that if the merchants caught him, they wouldn't hesitate to kill him. Filled with grief and the want for revenge, Tsai hesitantly boarded a merchant ship that was headed for the East Blue, more particularly Dawn Island. Lulu figured that he would have to get as far away from his native seas if he wanted to stay alive. There he would become stronger and regain the immense wealth his family once had, only then would he able to avenge his families death and reclaim what was rightfully his.
Since leaving the South Blue, Tsai would eventually become a part if the Vagabonds Pirate crew. It wasn't planned nor did Tsai need to ask as his two new friends, Vallen and Red took on his burdens and helped him escape the merchants that had learned of his identity. This event would unintentionally earn the crew their first 1,000,000B bounty. Not long after they had officially became the Vagabonds, Red would request a favor of his Nakama, of course captain Vallen had agreed as he was always ready for another adventure. So, red would lead the vagabonds into the mountainside within Dawn in search of what he felt that was apart of him. The adventure wouldn't be easy, as the the item Red longed for was guarded by intelligent apes, who mastered many different styles of combat.
Because the Monkey's have long stopped mountain bandits from raiding Red's village he did not want them killed. Because of this the fight was hard but eventually Vallen was knocked through the side of the mountain and found the lost treasure that the Monkey's were protecting. An ancient civilization surrounded by several stacks of gold filled chest and the Devil Fruit that Red had been looking for. The civilization had no use for the gold or the Devil Fruit and let the three of them have the treasures so long as they did not speak of them to the outside world because they did not wish to be found out. The three of them agreed and went on about their business. Red was able to eat the disgusting fruit which allowed him to transform to what he believed was his natural form all along. After this they piled up in Red's ship and Tsai who was a pretty good navigator managed to get them to their next adventure.
Their next adventure would come in the form of Tsai getting captured by marines, this was something he was known for, as he couldn't resist the chance to make money or learn something new. Tsai had found his way into the market place of Terminal Island, being merchant and the better one at judging budget it was usually left to Tsai to gather all the basic needs of the crew. While buying food for the crew Tsai would pass a stand that had numerous rare items. One being a unique looking fruit, of course being the rookie merchant that he was, coupled with a few glimpses at reds devil fruit encyclopedia. Tsai knew he needed to recover this fruit from the man, however the man was a more experienced merchant then Tsai was and knew the profit he would get from the fruit.
Angry at being outwitted at his own game, Tsai would make quick work of the merchant and seize the fruit for himself. As he was doing so, the pirate had unluckily caught he eye of the marines. A chase would ensue, with Tsai eventually eating the fruit after becoming surrounded butches marines. This is were Tsai would eat the Nikyu Nikyu no mi devil fruit and become a Paw man, even with his new abilities Tsai was no match for the marines, with the chase and subsequent scuffle resulting in his capture. The vagabonds were out for revenge and rescue, though not exactly on that order. They first planned on storming the gates of the small prison, not fearing the government one bit. However, they vwoul eventually team up with a mad scientist who had his own reasons for breaking in. With the new alliance, Vallen, red and their new ally Frank would break into the Marine bar and accomplish both objective. Vallen asked him to join the crew a notion that both he and red agreed with. Frank decided to join and went home for a final experiment before they shipped out in search of another adventure.
■ Combat
Special Abilities
Despite Tsai only being a rookie pirate, he has been navigating since he was a child. Learning the the basic and rudimentary skills it would take to traverse from one island to the next. As he got older, Tsai eventually learned how to sail from blue to blue as he escaped his family killers in the South Blue. This experience allows him and his crew to be more capable at navigating between blues, however each sea and ocean is different and Tsai's experience wouldn't get them out of every situation.
Merchants Eye [Rookie]
Due to his natural ability as a merchant Tsai has gained an innate ability to see the "worth in any thing" this translates to people as seeing their combat ability to gauge if they are close to his level or not. This helps Tsai stay away from fights that he would not be able to win. Although if the target is too much stronger then him the ability would not work as their "worth" is more than he could understand, making this an incomplete technique.
Devil Fruit
Cheung Po Tsai is the current eater of the Nikyu Nikyu no mi, as such it has transformed him into a paw paw human, with paw prints physically engraved on his palms, while also granting him the ability to repel almost anything. However, at Tsai's level he is capable of only meager feats, as opposed to he full power of the Fruit's abilities. At rookie level Tsai is able to repel normal attacks from npcs, however he'd need a technique to repel PC(player character) attacks. Additionally, his tech would have to be either above or equal to the strength of the PC's tech to repel it. At Tsai's level, the repel force he can emit is only strong enough for minor offensive and supplementary feats, such as techs that violently repel the air or his body to increase his speed. With Tsai's current account of repel force, his offensive attacks would only cause minor bodily harm and could break rookie level defenses over time. As for increasing his speed, the repel force as his current level would make him faster than normal npcs and rookies without a Speed SA or tech
