Rat is a very attractive girl when she wants to be. Her caramel skin complexion and hazel green eyes complimenting each other nicely. She is of average height and has an athletic build sporting a six pack that could make even some guys jealous. She is not the most gifted in the chest area but her small C cups fit her frame nicely. She has the overall body type of a tomboy who filled out nicely thanks to puberty which was basically the case. PUBERTY EQUALS MAGIC
■ Personality
Overall
This makes her a terrible choice for the marines but sense she has been drafted she has done her job realizing that every action has a reaction. Which is to say that although she does not believe that there is a such thing as right and wrong because everyone has the right to do as they please there, that does not mean there are no consequences for your actions. Just like a pirate has the right to steal unguarded treasure she has the right to lock him up for it. This plays in nicely with her belief system as she can be as lenient with rules as she pleases not really caring about getting in trouble with the higher ups of the navy.

Over the years her mother used most of her money to send her daughter to various schools and institutes that would give her everything she needed to know in order to become a pirate, Rat was a decent navigator and excelled in fighting which she would need if she planned to travel the seas as a woman. She learned sword fighting, whip fighting, and marksmanship. She even began to work on the streets as a pickpocket and a thief to help her mother pay for her formal teaching. This is where she learned that she had a silver tongue for merchant work.
She gained quite the reputation, so much so that the marines traveled to her island and gave her an ultimatum either be drafted or go to prison for thievery, although she had always wanted to be a pirate she would have to end up being a marine. After being drafted she was given several tests from survival to written and even martial to figure out what her status would be within the marine ranks. She was surprised to learn that she had almost qualified for a Commissioned rank however her tendency for not following rules bumped her from a potential ensign to Chore Boy.
Rat grew up on Baterila Island she knew that everything was not as sweet as it seemed. The island had a dark side, much like every other island in the world it had its own share of criminals and misfits that did not fit into the idea of the resort themed tourist sections of the island. However, the island did a very good job of hiding this side of itself from the tourist who never knew they were being robbed and stolen from and just enjoyed the spa and attractions.
When she was forced into becoming a part of the marines she vowed that she would come back and make the streets at least a little bit safer for people like her mother who was much too old to sell herself anymore so they were being extorted by an organized crime family that plagued the streets since Rat was a child. It was actually the leader of this organization who have Ratchet her nickname telling her that she was good to have around like the tool just in case. This was when he thought she was a boy, though when she began to grow breast he wanted her around for a completely different reason.
She knew the inner workings of Dino the Handyman and his band of criminals who called themselves the superintendents, which they thought was funny as they charged, people “rent” and protection money to be left alone. She knew it very well because not only did her mother used to be one of Dino’s favorite prostitutes when Rat was a child but Rat herself had also worked for him until he found out that she was a girl and wanted to change the nature of their relationship.
Until her mother had gotten too old for Dino, whom was in his 70’s and liked his women to be anywhere between 16-25, he and Rat had a very good relationship though afterward he began extorting her mother and beating her when she could not pay. Though before that it was Dino and his goons who taught Rat how to be a criminal and had even trained her on how to become a thief and pirate before seemingly just disappearing (having not told anyone she was drafted to the marines).
Now she was back to prove her worth to the marines, although those were not the words that they had used it is what she took the mission as. A way to show that they had not messed up by placing her at such a high rank straight out the draft especially since she had a habit of ignoring her higher ups and doing whatever she pleases. This was one of those instances she was supposed to stake out the mob and find evidence against them but not get directly involved or allow them to know that she was even on the island. She decided that this was stupid due to her inside knowledge and previous relationships with the gang she would be better to work undercover so that is what she did ignoring the warnings of her superiors that the gang may have heard about her being a marine.
She believed that waiting and looking out would be boring, and this way even if they do know that she is a marine she could just kick the shit out of them all and bring them in for attack marine personal which would be much more fun than searching for evidence to catch him and lock him away. However, they did not seem to know that she was drafted and just thought that she was sent away to learn to fight better which was partly true so she allowed them to believe just that saying that she was sent to Karate Island and that is where she learned Ryusoken. She was to reprise her role as thief for Dino to help her mother pay her “rent” which was just fine with her as it meant that while she conducted her investigation her mother would be safe from the abuse of The Handyman and his thugs.
Because she was now a Marine she could no longer actually steal for the gang. Something she lamented about but decided she was better off not causing an even bigger rift between her and the higher ups of the navy, especially after telling them that she had infiltrated the gang which was against her orders. So instead, whenever she was given an assignment to come up with certain items or a certain amount of money she would simply go to the useless marine base on the island and get more than enough money or a replica of the item.
One that would pass even the best underground test as their testers were nowhere near as good as the Marine forgers. The money was of course marked as were the items all of which was building a strong case against The Handyman though those items by themselves would not be enough to bring him to jail.
The whole pretending to work for him while slowly building evidence against him was much too slow. Rat had no intention to keep to this plan and only told her superiors this because what she was planning to do was technically illegal and they would not approve. She would incite a war between the superintendents and a lesser gang in the area and use the chaos to break into the handyman’s vault and get the real evidence against him that could put him away forever.
Though getting one of the lesser gangs to feel brave enough to attack would take some convincing she had a plan to handle that. Although it would take a few weeks she was confident that if she played her cards right the whole investigation would only last for two months which would make her the liberator of the village before her eighteenth birthday if that did not prove she belonged nothing would.
Her plan was a simple one she would take side jobs with the baker brothers a lesser gang that has been on the brink of making it big for years. It has even been said that if the Handyman were not around the baker brothers would be the top gang on the island. Of course she would receive permission from the Handyman as well as permission from the Marines to infiltrate this other gang before doing so. She would tell the Handyman that she had heard tale of a plot the brothers have to take him out and take over his business and work the angle of his spy.
To infiltrate the Baker Brothers she would tell them that the Handyman is getting weak in his old age and his control of his gang is slipping and because of that she was sent to his biggest threat to make sure that they did not try to move on him. However, she would tell them that she is sick of just being a small time runner and thief and that she would help them usurp the Handyman in a way that would have the superintendents working for them so they would take control of the island overnight and would end up with the power and respect that the Handyman had so long as they made her their number two in the organization.
Everyone on the island knew Rat’s worth and that having her on your side meant getting things that others could not as well as having an exceptional fighter on your side if things were to end up in a brawl. That bit of information plus an inside look into the Handyman’s operations was much too good an opportunity to pass up so she did not need to do too much convincing before she was accepted into the fold.
The next part of the plan came easy. It was basically just doing the same thing she was already doing but doing it for two gangs while simultaneously feeding the Handyman false information on how the brothers were mobilizing against him. While at the same time telling the brothers that Handyman was afraid that they would come and usurp everything he has created because he was growing weak. Of course neither of these things was true; the brothers were still very much afraid to move on the Handyman and the Handyman was still very much in charge showing no signs of weakening even in his advanced age.
Rat begun taking small measures that she knew her superiors would not like or approve of if they knew. This is part of the reason she did not report to them, the other being she did not want them to think that anything was changing and that she was following the orders given to her of just watching and reporting what she seen back to the marine base. She began small taking out small time runners for from the superintendents taking the illegal goods and the money they had on them back to the marine base. She would then tell the Handyman that his men were being hit by the brothers while going back to the brothers and saying that other gangs were seeing the weakness that the Handyman was showing and were trying to move in on territory that could easily be theirs.
Her plan was slowly working though she wanted to prod the progress on further she knew how delicate the process was. If she moved it too fast than she would blow it and her cover and her chance of getting the two gangs of the street permanently would be shot. She did not want to get a bunch of low level runners of the streets for a few years for assaulting a marine official she wanted more than that and she had a way to get it, a way to use the chaos a gang war would cause to her benefit to get enough evidence to put both gangs away for good, so long as the higher ups believed her story of her being giving the evidence for safe keeping (which of course would be a lie she planned on stealing it) then she would be golden.
The tension on the streets was slowly rising and rumors of a war breaking out soon were everywhere. This caused business for both sides to suffer as Rat knew it would as it was hard to operate on the street when you customers were scared that being around you would bring them into your war. Though it hurt organized crime and the protection rackets the most; people would not want to pay you to protect them if your name no longer caused fear because it was the fear that was the protection no what they could do to a person.
Anyone could hurt and/or kill someone else that is not what caused the protection business to prosper the way that it did. It was not the fear of being hurt but the fear and respect of the name so long as you had that name attached to you people would fear to cross you even if you are just some legit person paying money to the family so they would not terrorize your store, the fact that you were protected by them meant that disrespecting that store by messing with it or stealing from it was like disrespecting the name of the Handyman. For years the superintendents have lived rather comfortably because everyone knew that if you disrespected the name of the Handyman you paid the price.
During his youth when he first started coming into his name he had been a mysterious nobody just a drifter that randomly showed up one day he had no one following him and whenever someone asked his name he said he was the Handyman. Back then it was the Baker Brother’s gang that ran Baterila Island and a couple of their goons thought it would be funny to pick on the funny little kid with the odd name. At the time the Handyman was around fifteen years old he was skinny and he looked as if he never had a fulfilling meal in his life so they assumed they could take him.
What they did not know however was that he had run away from the Grand Line and was once the slave to a Celestial Dragon and was forced to fight for the family’s amusement. Because of this he was a trained fighter as most of the Celestial Dragon’s that were into slave fights had seen enough of untrained slave fighting and grew bored with it and begun training their slaves to fight telling them that if they won enough fights to win back the money spent to buy them then they could be free. Making the Handyman (which was his slave fighting name) a very dangerous man he defeated twenty five of the Baker Brother’s men before the two brothers (whose sons now control the gang) heard tale of it and decided to meet up with him.
The Baker Brother’s even then were business men they did not care for establishing their name through violence and only wished to gain the most Belli that they could. However, as they were drug dealers they needed muscle in their establishment and as the Handyman had beaten up all of their muscle rather easily they knew that they would not be able to stop him. When they meet they exchanged stories the Baker Brother’s having been born on the island to a drug addict mother who sold them to a drug dealer for some of the drugs they now sell themselves.
The drug dealer was kind to them and taught them the ways of the drug dealing and instilling in them the idea that with enough Belli a man could do whatever he wanted in this world. The twins brought into it and became his best sellers even at a young age, knowing what he had taught them and seeing the ambition in their eyes the man who was like a father to them had given them a deal.
The deal was that they would take over his business that way they would not have to kill him for it now that he was getting old as he knew that was their plan because he taught them everything they knew and it is what he would have done. He would bear no ill will to them as he was proud of their ambition and the fact that they respected him enough to take the meeting with him before just killing him dead and taking what was his.
However, all he asked in return was that they take good care of him in his old age and make sure that he wanted for nothing as he had once did to them, they agreed to the deal as it would be much better than causing a war with the members of the gang that were too loyal to him to defect with the twins. The old man left the two boys with one bit of advice before he retired which was if ever you come across a situation where you may not win and even if you did your profit would suffer the best thing to do would be to come to a compromise.
To them this happened to be one of those situations. As the Handyman had shown that he was capable of beating the best fighting group on the island it would make sense for them to go to war with him. Instead they offered him the position as their new head of security, and so long as he made sure that what just happened did not happen again he would be well taken care of. The Handyman answered with his own tale thinking it right that since they shared their origin tale with him that he should do the same as well.
So he launched into his life story starting from the beginning. He had been born in the south blue he did not remember which island as he was so young but he was told it was in the south. His parents were relatively important on their island being compared even to the celestial dragons. One day an actual celestial dragon showed up on the island and his parents made the mistake of treating him like an equal. Because of this they decided they would buy the families only son as a slave and promised that if they had any more children they would hear about and would come and take that child away as well. Their intention was to end the family line who though that they were equal with the likes of them.
Having been a spoiled child the Handyman, who could not remember is true name nor did he care to try, did not acclimate to slave life well. He was strong willed and plucky often trying to escape and fight his way out of slavery albeit unsuccessfully as he did not know how to fight. It was slaves like him that they decided to train up for the slaves fights because of the natural fight within them; also if given a chance for freedom and a good chance at that the slaves tended to not try to run away anymore. Also if trained, they could make their owner very rich and if not then they died and the celestial dragon would no longer have to worry about a slave that was too feisty for its own good. The celestial dragon gave the Handyman basically the same proposition the brothers were giving him now.
He was to fight for him. As well as providing him protection he was to fight in gladiatorial matches that would make him a bunch of money and although he would not be making any money he would be well taken care of so long as he kept winning. A lost every now and then was to be expected but if he stayed on top of his game and won 1,000 matches he would win his freedom and be released with a ship and 100,000 Belli to do with whatever he wished. He took the deal then making the promise that he would never lose a fight. The celestial dragon was amused and told him that if he truly does not lose in his first 500 matches then he would set him free early and give him a boat teach him to navigate and 1,000,000 Belli to do with as he pleases.
He fought and won. For years this went on and he was making quite the name for himself. Whatever anyone may say about a celestial dragon one thing that could not be said is that they do not keep their word. Or rather the Handyman had the good fortune to be brought by one that had every intention of keeping his word. He began to spoil the Handyman as much as a slave master could spoil a slave. While he was not well fed he was better fed than all the other slaves the celestial dragon owned put together. He also began asking the Handyman when he was up for another fight which was a stark comparison to when the first began and he would stack fights one after the other as if trying to get the Handyman to lose.
His 500th fight was his most grueling. Not because they man he was fighting was particularly strong or sturdy. He had actually beaten the man before rather easily before. However, this time it would be his opponent’s 1,000th win if he won this fight so he refused to be ended no matter how bad he was beaten. There was an unspoken rule among the slaves that they would not kill each other no matter how rough the fights got and the Handyman was going to stick to this even if he ended up tiring himself out and losing his first fight during the fight for his freedom. Just when he felt that he could no longer hold out his opponent fell and he had won his freedom.
He worked for the original Baker brothers for a few years while making a name for himself and striking fear into the hearts of the inhabitants. He also watched the brothers in order to learn how to play the game and learn to run things on his own. When he finally felt he had learned all he could from the brothers he went to them with a proposition all his own. Something that would benefit the both of them but something that would ensure that The Handyman would gain control of the island without having to go to war to do it. It was a simple deal that the brothers would not like but would have to take unless they wanted to fight a war that would make their business suffer, and they would eventually lose.
The Handyman would break off from the brothers and create his own gang choosing those that he brought to enforce with him within the brothers company with him when he defects. While this would literally mean that the brothers had no means of protecting their business The Handyman offered his crew as protection so long as the brothers paid, though he would give them a nice discount. Also he would enter into the protection racket and not touch the drug trade which would leave the brothers business untouched. The reason they would be stupid to refuse this deal was because all the enforcers within the Baker Brothers gang was loyal to The Handyman and would turn on them if it were to come to a fight.
This is how The Handyman came into power and why he had allowed the Baker's Brothers to prosper on his island (even going as far as to protect them for free so long as they did not sell to anyone in his gang). The fact that The Handyman allowed them to keep their business and even allowed them to use his name for protection free of charge is why the new brothers were so apprehensive on attacking The Handyman. Rat knew this history as everyone else on Baterila Island knew it. This was why she was getting antsy she knew that it would take something big to get them to go to an all out war.
She would get her chance sooner than she thought. The younger brother who was always more brash and violent then the elder brother wanted to go on a mission with Rat. The missions was to kidnap one of the main players for the Superintendents. He wanted to kidnap the man and make him talk about the rumored weakness of The Handyman as well as get some inside info which would help them for when it was time to attack. He wanted to keep the idea from his older brother who would have advised against it (and with good reason too) and that worked perfectly for Rat.
She set it up so that both the brother and the major player would be taken into custody by the marines. Both sides would think that they fought and killed each other.Rat would tell each side that she disposed of the bodies so that no heat would befall them and because she was trusted by both sides they would believe her. It was not easy to capture them and Rat ended up having to fight them both as when she tried capturing them alive they pieced together that it was her pitting them against each other. Though they did not know she was a marine until her reinforcements arrived and referred to her as Chore Boy Ayasha King.
Favor had smiled upon Rat having successfully taken down the number two of each of the gang’s while making it seem as if they had taken each other out. It was made much more convincing as Rat was pretty beat up from holding them both off until her back up arrived, she had spun them both a story that she had sided with their respective leader and was only able to take down the other side due to the sacrifice of the leader giving her the opening to finish the other off. Both sides brought her story and both sides were livid with the other, Rat played her part greatly screaming for war to protect the honor of both sides.
Within a few days war was exactly what had happened. Surprisingly it was the Baker Brothers gang that made the first move. Most likely not thinking straight due to the apparent death of his cousin who was more like a brother to him (the marines have been quiet about arresting them as per Ratchet’s request so that her plan will work), The elder brother himself struck the first blow in the war having shot at one of the decoy cars that was said to be holding the Handyman and killing one of his stand ins.
This was an insult that the Handyman could not suffer and retaliated by blowing one of the Baker Brothers gang hideout giving a written order to do it to Ratchet signed by him. Ratchet kept the orders for evidence but since she made sure there was no one within the blast it would not be enough to lock him away forever.
She used her considerable charm to attempt to have them both move the war into a more personal means, she succeeded due mainly to the fact that the remaining brother did not want to see more of his business hurt and the Handyman believing it would be more honorable. During their meeting to decide the terms of the war Ratchet took this as her chance to break into their respective headquarters and steal, very much illegally, proof that could help her put them away for good.
She decided to hit the Baker Brothers first. Their set up was easier to break into because they were a business and hide their illegal gain through a legitimate business. Thanks to all the gang members having gone to the meeting Rat was able to just walk through the front door under the pretense of checking things out for the boss. Once in the office she broke into the safe and took pictures of the numbers sheet detailing just how much drugs and mysterious disappearances the brothers were responsible for, this was more than enough to lock the entire gang away for good.
The Superintendents would not be so easy. The Handyman did not pretend to be a legit business everyone knew he was corrupt but no one could prove it. His money came from gifts from his friends and he was lucky enough that these gifts made him wealthy. Because no one would testify and they could never catch him in the act and anyone they caught that was tied to him simply took full blame there was never a way to get him. Because of this there were still members of his gang patrolling his office under strict orders to not let anyone inside without the bosses say so. This was when she had to use her abilities as a thief to sneak in without being seen by anyone.
The fact that she was the one that set up the security meant that she knew the exact routes and timing the guards were under which meant she was well prepared for this, she snuck in without a hitch and when she finally made it into the bosses chambers she seen something that she could not help but think was just wrong.
A large wolf with blue markings across his white fur, he was around two feet larger than regular wolves and had to be the rare breed of dire wolf that she had read about, she had heard that there was one on the island that was in the circus that used a sword but it ran away and was not seen again. It seemed Fetty the Flamboyant had not run away but was caged up in the Handyman’s office (which he never let anyone enter). There were clear signs of abuse on him and he was bone thin likely from being starved, the wolf’s cage was not the only one within the office either.
There were several young girls within cages as well ranging from twelve years old to fifteen. All in various stages of undress clear abuse both sexual and physical littered their bodies. Rat was infuriated with what she saw and promised that she would get them all out and back to their families as well as finishing the Handyman today this would not go any longer. She freed the children as well as the wolf that seemed to understand that she was there to help and did not even growl but followed her instructions to the letter as if he understood her every word better than any wolf should ever be able to.
Because she was with around twenty young girls and a very large wolf sneaking out was not an option so instead she told the girls and the wolves to wait within the office as she took care of the men outside. She snuck around behind each of them and knocked them out either choking them or knocking them against the head with her iron gauntlet.
During this she found a beautiful sword that was much too long for her to wield with an unorthodox sheath unlike any she saw before, she felt compelled to take it even though she would not be able to use it.
Upon returning to the girls and the wolf the wolf bounded up to her and began licking her face before expertly fastening the sheath to his neck and drawing the sword giving it a few practice swings. Rat was impressed so much so that she asked the wolf if he would like to join the marines as her partner the wolf gave a low howl which she took as a yes and they walked from the building. Once she got from the building she called her contact to pick up the girls as well as too arrest the men within the compound and to seize both headquarters she had a plan to end this right now.
Fetty who seemed eager to join her was malnourished and once Rat told the other marines that the wolf was her new partner to treat him as they would treat her he was whisked off to a marine hospital to be treated. Fetty gave her a look that she could swear meant that he appreciated her concern and that he would follow her anywhere and that they were now a pack with her being his alpha.
It was time to put her capture plan in motion with the two bases of operation seized and all the evidence she had sent in all she needed know were witnesses to testify and there would be no way either one of them would get away with a life imprisonment in impel down with the worst of the criminals.
However, she knew no one would testify unless she proved that the might of the military could protect them from the criminals. She walked to the meeting alone with a Den Den Mushi that would call in reinforcements at one click of a button. She entered the meeting and told both leaders that the marines have hit their headquarters.
An all-out brawl took place with the two gangs blaming each other. Soon the fighting spilled out onto the streets and once there was a large crowd Rat entered the fray. She fought both sides knocking out many of small fries on both sides. Both the elder brother and the Handyman were knocking out small fries as well.
When they noticed that Ratchet was taking out men on both sides The Handyman unleashed his secret weapon. A blast of conqueror’s haki aimed for all the combatants so that the onlookers would be able to witness his might.
Both sides hit the floor knocked out and the only people left to fight was the elder brother who fell to the ground but got back up, and Ratchet who was brought to her knees but trained to resist his level of haki for this very mission. The fight was long and hard and eventually the Handyman’s advanced age caught up with him allowing Rat and the elder brother to overpower him something they would not have been able to do on their own.
Rat then fought with the elder brother who put up a great fight but the blast of haki had weakened him much more than it has Ratchet and she was able to pull off a win. She took the Den Den Mushi from her pocket and pushed the button within moments several marines were rushing to the scene many of them telling Chore Boy King that she was supposed to call them before the fighting had started.
She just smiled before reassuring the people of Baterila Island that the marines would always be there to help them so long as they were willing to help themselves. After her short speech she could tell that the people were applauding her but she could not hear it as she soon passed out from the stress of battle.
■ Combat
Special Abilities
Growing up on the street Rat learned a certain set of skills that she prides herself on. She has learned stealth, thievery, and bargaining. While her abilities with these three talents are far from the best they are noteworthy especially because she plans to better herself in each art. Though at her current Rookie level she can only pick locks and pockets of NPC's without using a tech and while she can steal pretty much whatever she wants from an NPC bigger things are harder to get away with. From PC's it is hard for her to steal even little things without a tech and picking simple locks takes time and anything more complex is beyond her without a tech. As for stealth she needs a tech in order to use anything stealth like at the moment. Her merchant skills are by far her best asset at this level she is able to get a 10% discount on buying things.
Speed Demon
Rat is fast she was always fast and because of her training she will always be fast. Her speed is taken as far as a rookie could possibly take it. Her basic running speed would be the equivalent to a Rookie without a speed SA using a speed technique. This natural disposition to speed relates to her reflexes and reaction and while both are above the average neither is as high as a Rookie who has a reaction and reflex SA.
